Individually and as groups, we face ethical and practical situations and dilemmas which put our integrity to the test. A rule of conduct in every decision we make, is that we should never doubt our integrity. We must make the correct choices and when we are in doubt, we should consult our colleagues and managers.
Protan's mission is that we proudly deliver innovative roof systems, membranes, ventilation systems and technical textiles that protect our customers’ assets.
In order to succeed in our mission, we expect our employees to act with respect and integrity towards business associates, clients, colleagues, public authorities and any other parties with whom we are in contact in the course of our work.
Our ethical code provides guidelines for all our employees, so that we work on an ethical and socially responsible basis. The guidelines must be known and adhered to by all employees, directors, temporary personnel and others acting on behalf of Protan.
We comply with rules, acts and regulations, and we focus on people, guarantee healthy working conditions and are aware of the impact of our activities on the environment.
We have four values that guide our conduct and actions. Our clients, partners and colleagues will experience these values when they collaborate with us.

Health, safety and environment
Protan will be a health-promoting workplace where we have the aim that no one will get injured or fall ill from working. Good health is important for all employees and is a critical success factor in achieving our goals. We are responsible for our own and others’ safety, and our goal is good working conditions for everyone. We are all responsible to speak out should our safety or that of others be in danger. We have a vision of zero accidents and injuries. Protan has first-rate safety procedures and safety training for the work we perform. All our employees are entitled to stop work if there is imminent danger to life and limb. In such situations managers must be alerted immediately.
We conduct our activities through effective use of materials and energy, with focus on reducing the use of natural resources and keeping emissions and waste to a minimum. We aim to make all of our products recyclable.
Unreported employment and social dumping undermine our activities. All employees distance themselves from this. We have zero tolerance for unreported employment and social dumping in connection with our activities. Bullying and discrimination We treat everyone with whom we come into contact in the course of our work with respect and trust. We do not accept any bullying of colleagues, clients, suppliers or other partners. The same applies to discrimination based on religion, ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation, etc.
Market and competition
Protan wishes to be part of a market where healthy competition is natural. We refrain from any kind of unlawful collaboration or attempts to influence the market.
We have zero tolerance with regard to corruption and trading in influence. Corruption undermines the principles of free competition and would be extremely damaging to our reputation. Our financial statements reflect all of our activities and comply with all laws and regulations.
Reporting of unacceptable conditions
All employees have the right and in some cases the obligation to report any unacceptable conditions of which we become aware in the course of our activities. Unacceptable conditions may be infringements of laws and regulations, non-compliance with the company’s guidelines, or breach of the general perception of what is justifiable or ethically acceptable. Examples may include the misappropriation of funds, corruption or threat to life and health. We have a special information board that every employee is familiar with. Reports must be submitted to the immediate supervisor, the company’s HR department or the general manager. We have set up a system that facilitates internal reporting.
Conflict of interest
Employees must avoid situations where there is a conflict between their own and Protan’s interests. We expect loyal employees and prohibit staff from conducting or participating in competitive activities. Should a conflict of interest arise, the employee must inform their immediate supervisor of the matter at their own instigation.
Entertainment, client relations, supplier relations and gifts
A good and professional relationship with clients and suppliers is vital to succeeding in the market. Building relationships is a natural aspect of doing business and we should conduct ourselves and be perceived as a company with a strong focus on ethics. Transparency is important. We meet our partners with respect and honesty. They are to be treated on a good and ethically sound basis. Our suppliers must be confident that they compete for contracts with Protan on an equal footing with other suppliers.
As authorised by their managers, employees may organise or participate in social events, lunches, dinners and entertainment, as long as the event has a clear professional/business purpose. Our employees must always conduct themselves in a representative manner.
Gifts to individuals may not be of any great value. Particular caution should be exercised during a procurement process.
All employees are subject to a duty of confidentially with regard to trade secrets or classified information. We are all important ambassadors of the company. This means that we must be aware of how we speak about Protan. We expect this to continue after employment has ended.
Press and social media
Protan wishes to be seen as a united and professional company. Only persons authorised to issue statements to the press may do so on behalf of Protan.
Social media should be used in a well-considered manner so as not to harm our reputation.
Our employees understand that we also represent Protan outside working hours.
